Commitment for Core Team Members

As a Core Team member, you are given an important role that works towards DSC McMaster U's missions and values. You were chosen for this role because you demonstrated that you were self-driven and self-motivated. You were also chosen because your values aligned with DSC's. As such, as a Core Team member you are expected to be committed to this club throughout the year*, participate in all executive and general meetings**, and contribute to the club's activities, events, projects, and other things we do that work towards our yearly team goals.

*It's okay if you end up changing your mind regarding commitment at some point throughout the year! Of course I would love it if all members stayed involved for the whole year but I understand that this may not be possible for any reason. I just ask that if you're a Core Team member and you no longer wish to commit to such responsibility, please let me know. I will not hold this against you, and I won't even ask you why. I would just want to know as soon as possible so that I can make arrangements to find a replacement. You would still be able to participate in any and all club activities in the future as a general member.

**If you can't make it to a meeting because of a scheduling conflict that you can't control (class, midterm, appointments, etc) please let me know. I will be keeping track of attendance and in general I'll be regularly checking in regarding your DSC projects, and this is so that I can ensure that as a club we meet our yearly goals and complete our club projects. Three absences without explanation could lead to disqualification of being a Core Team Member. This is because throughout the year we'll be working on several projects and we want to ensure they are completed, and if you no longer can commit to the role, it is good etiquette to let someone else take over in order to get our projects done.

Commitment for General Members

As a general member, you will have a Team Lead to guide you and your fellow team members. Your team lead may set certain expectations for you, and as a member of the club you are expected to follow the rules and guidelines set by your sub-team lead. If you have any concerns or should there be any conflict regarding this, please reach out to @Areeba Aziz so we can discuss next steps.

As a general member, you are welcome to participate in any and all meetings/events/workshops/activities/projects run by the club. You get what you put into extracurricular activities, and so you are encouraged to take part in as many club activities as you can manage along with all your other school/work/life commitments. If you are unable to fulfill your responsibilities, please let your team lead or @Areeba Aziz know as soon as possible. We won't hold this against you but it would really help us plan next steps for how to fill any responsibilities you were given.

As a member belonging to a team, you may be given specific tasks to complete by your Team lead. In addition to that, you may want to participate in activities run by other teams and that's okay as well, as long as you complete the tasks assigned by your team lead.

Virtual Meetings

For the 2020/21 school year, at least for the fall semester, we will be conducting all our meetings virtually. The platform for video calls is TBA.

Below are some virtual meeting etiquette that you are expected to follow:
